How to use an iPhone as a USB drive without iTunes

The iPhone is sold in versions of between 4 and 32 gigabytes of storage space. If you want to take advantage of this storage space and use the iPhone as a USB drive, you can download several third-party transfer applications on your computer that will enable this feature. In addition, these external applications offer a functional alternative to using iTunes to transfer information to your iPhone.

Step 1

Download and install an external transfer application on your computer that allows you to use your iPhone as a USB drive (see Resources). IPhone Explorer, DiskAid and Xilisoft iPhone Transfer are three of these applications.

Step 2

Open the third party transfer application on your computer.

Step 3

Connect the iPhone cable to the port on the bottom of your iPhone. Connect the other end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.

Step 4

Select the hard drive of your computer in the file transfer application.

Step 5

Select the files you want to transfer to your iPhone. You can select a single file or multiple files.

Step 6

Click on the “Transfer” button to download the files from your computer to your iPhone.
