What is Herpes

Definition of herpes

Herpes is actually a herpes simplex virus or VSH in English. This is a condition that we can find at a cutaneous level that has two types.

This is the simple or type 1 or type 2. It is characterized by the appearance of sores in the affected area often full of pustules and unpleasant appearance.

This is a very common disease and we usually notice it when it appears in the oral cavity although it is not the only place where it can appear. It is also common to find it in the genitals.

How herpes is transmitted

This is transmitted by direct contact with the affected people. Anyone who is sexually active can get it. This is a disease that is characterized by appearing on mucous membranes, this being the right skin for its habitat. It is then that in contact with these surfaces their propagation is almost immediate.

Also if the person, for example, has oral herpes and practices oral sex, he can infect his partner. It is worth noting that herpes can be transmitted from person to person even without presenting any symptoms. This phase is known as asymptomatic reactivation.

Symptoms of herpes

Many people may not know what genital herpes is or how it is spread but they are infected. It is then when the symptoms begin to glimpse and people then become aware of the virus they possess.

Genital herpes on the other hand can have an appearance of symptoms days after infection. Although the symptoms may disappear after 12 days, it does not mean that the virus is completely gone. The latter can last between 3 and 4 weeks after infection.

There are some people even that herpes causes severe outbreaks that become very evident but also others that do not even notice that they have it. The symptoms then are:

  • Appearance in the area of ​​the mucosa, blisters, sores, cuts, rashes.
  • Itching, burning or tingling in the genitals.
  • Headache.
  • Fever.
  • Pain when urinating.
  • Flow.

It is possible that by the expressed symptoms of what herpes is often it is confused with:

  • Mushrooms.
  • Rasp when shaving.
  • Itch.
  • Hmorroids

Herpes prevention

If you are sexually active and you already know what herpes is, then these are some of the measures you should take so that this disease is not a problem:

  • If you have any symptoms of oral herpes, do not practice oral sex with your partner.
  • If the person has symptoms is their genital areas, it is best not to maintain relationships.
  • If there are no apparent symptoms between any of them but it is not your stable partner, it is best to use condoms.
  • Constant communication with the couple so they can be aware of the disease.
